CEZC Partnership with Department of Workforce Development and Wawa

For 10 consecutive years, the CEZC has partnered with the County’s Department of Workforce Development and Wawa Food Markets in the Wawa Summer Youth Training Program. Under this program, the CEZC funds a portion of the cost of transporting EZ youth to shore communities for work at Wawa stores, thereby providing training and employment opportunities for residents of the Empowerment Zone. The Wawa Summer Youth Program has been recognized as an exemplary use of work opportunity tax credits to benefit business and facilitate employment opportunities for EZ residents. With the CEZC’s modest investment, this program has provided training and job opportunities to over 300 youth residing in EZ communities.
