Another successful project supported by the CEZC is the Rutgers University Food Innovation Center – an initiative within the Bridgeton Empowerment Zone census tracts to promote a viable agricultural and food processing base in Southern New Jersey. The Center provides technical assistance to business and individual clients, assisting them in developing, testing and marketing food and farm products. With CEZC financial assistance, a new 23,000 sq. ft. food business incubator facility was constructed in the Bridgeton Florida Avenue Industrial Park. The incubator provides clients with access to food processing and laboratory equipment. By providing the first funding committed to this project, the CEZC served as a true catalyst for this state-of-the-art facility. The Food Innovation Center benefits the Bridgeton Empowerment Zone through job creation, assisting local businesses and attracting new business to the region.
